Career Risk Assessor: Score Industry Disruption, Role Obsolescence, and Company Stability

Three risks define your career exposure: industry disruption, role obsolescence, and company instability. Score each, see the contributing factors, and get a 90-day mitigation plan.

Career Risk Assessor

Career risk isn't one number. It's three:

1. Industry disruption — Is the whole sector being reshaped (AI, regulation, M&A, funding cycles)?
2. Role obsolescence — Is your specific role being automated or restructured?
3. Company instability — Is your employer's runway, leadership, or pipeline at risk?

The Career Risk Assessor scores each dimension 0–100, derives an overall risk score, and outputs a list of concrete factors plus a 90-day mitigation plan.

What's in the output

  • Three independent scores + an overall risk band (low / moderate / high / critical).
  • A short summary tying the scores to specific mechanisms (tools, regs, M&A patterns).
  • 3–8 risk factors with severity and evidence.
  • 3–8 mitigation actions, each labeled by effort and impact, and each with a first step you can take this week.

Why specificity matters

Generic risk advice ("upskill in AI") helps no one. The Assessor names: which tools, which certifications, which adjacent roles, which conversations to have with your manager. Mitigations are actionable within 90 days — not vague five-year transformations.

How to use it

1. Open /career-risk.
2. Enter your role, industry, optional company, years of experience, region, and context (recent layoffs, AI adoption, pipeline cuts).
3. Click Assess my risk. Save the report to your profile to track changes over time.

Use it before accepting an offer (combine with [Career Satisfaction Predictor](/career-satisfaction)) and before deciding whether to pivot (combine with [Skill Adjacency Mapper](/skill-adjacency)).
